VANDERHOOF – Large billboard-style signage went up on the front of the new Nechako community campus of the College of New Caledonia (CNC) last week. The attention-grabbing signs are a reminder of the Province of B.C. announcement earlier in the spring to fund a new location for CNC in Vanderhoof.

The newly purchased property includes three buildings. The main building is a large 10,000 square-foot (929 square-metre) unfinished structure constructed in 2014 and will be the focus for the new campus. One half of this building will be renovated and upgraded to allow a full range of trades programming. The other half will be renovated to include additional classrooms and administrative offices to support the delivery of academic and career upgrading courses and continuing and community education programming

CNC staff are excited about the renovations and move to this one central location. “The purchase of this new facility is evidence of our College’s continuing commitment to the regional communities we serve” says Nechako Regional Principal, Nicholette Prince. “The ability to offer trades and other programming in a top notch facility and in one central location will allow increased continuity and expansion in all the programming we offer. We look forward to moving into the new facility by Fall, 2018.”
