Mystery Vanderhoof pilot in Yukon helicopter crash

The unknown pilot sustained minor injuries after a failed level correction shortly after take off

It was reported by media that RCMP have confirmed a helicopter crash, involving a Vanderhoof pilot, took place shortly after take off from the airport in Atlin, B.C., at around 3:00 p.m. on Thursday August 10. It was reported that the pilot sustained minor injuries after the blades hit the ground in a failed attempt to correct the aircraft level about 5 m off the ground.

There were apparently no passengers on board and Transport Canada is investigating the incident.

The pilot, identified only as ‘from Vanderhoof’, is not being named by police.
