Donald William George Pippy
April 22, 1965 – April 23, 2016
Don passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the age of 51.
Don was born on April 22, 1965 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Albert and Marion Pippy. The youngest of four children, Don enjoyed an active childhood and was passionate about sports, playing competitive hockey through his teen years. When his family moved to Calgary in 1978, Don also took up golfing and skiing, sports he enjoyed through his adult years with his friends and family. After graduating with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Calgary, Don started teaching in Vanderhoof, BC. While enjoying a diverse teaching career he furthered his education with a Master’s Degree in Education, followed by a Master’s Degree in Distance Education. Don was a dedicated and caring teacher, friend, and father. Spending time with his family, whether on the ski hill or golf course, gave him the most joy. Don will be missed by all who knew him.
Don is survived by his children Steven, Leah, and William Pippy; former spouse Monique Pippy; sisters Laura Huber (Matthew), Joan Moore, and Cathy Engstrom as well as a niece and several nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted by the Vanderhoof Fire Rescue Association.
