HOLSTEN, ELMER THEODORE

Elmer Theodore Holsten passed away peacefully on May 12, 2004 at the age of 89 in Fraser Canyon Hospital in Hope, BC.

Elmer is survived by his loving family: Wife Wilma M. Holsten, children: George J. (Lisa) Holsten, Lisa L. (John) Rodden, Murray (Joy) McNeil, Louise (Henry) Friesen, Lois (Ray) Westlake, Linda (Darwin) Greene and Jerry-Lynn Wilson.

Born in Fort Rice, North Dakota, Elmer served his country in the U.S. Military during the 2nd World War. The U.S.’s loss was Canada’s gain when Elmer arrived in Vanderhoof, B.C. in the 1960’s. During his lifetime, he earned his loving working in the logging business, owning a bakery, but primarily by owning and operating his own construction company. Elmer served the community well for many years as a member of the Elks and was proud of his association with them.

The truly amazing man will be remembered by family and friends as a man of great heart, strength, wisdom and generosity and will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Up until his recent debilitating congestive heart and lung failure, Elmer lived life with zest and enthusiasm and valued MOST the precious times he spent with his beloved family whom he treasured! May God hold him in the palm of his hand until we meet again!
