Amanda (Rich Haughton), Ilya and Spencer; three greatgrandchildren,
Trisana, Tasia and Lucas; one sister, Velma
Bogart and one brother, Norman Ford (both of Wainwright,
Alberta) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerry was born in Wainwright. As a young man he played
hockey and baseball, was a volunteer fi reman and served
the communities he lived in through the Kinsmen Club
who awarded him a life membership. He enjoyed camping,
hunting, fi shing and water skiing. He also coached
minor hockey in Vanderhoof and Williams Lake. When he
got older, he took up curling and golf and was profi cient
at both. He was an accomplished self-taught saxophone
player and played for dances in Alberta, BC and Arizona
for 50 years. Most of his working years were spent in sales;
lumber, life insurance and Ford vehicles. Gerry passed
away as he had lived his life, with integrity, great courage
and grace and an unfailing sense of humour. A family
“celebration of life” will be held at a later date. The family
wishes to thank the staff at Mariposa Gardens who gave
Gerry so much care and consideration during his stay there.
