A True Pioneer of Vanderhoof
Iva moved to Vanderhoof in 1920 with her family arriving by train from Consella, Alberta. She was one of six siblings. In 1935, Iva married her late husband Harold Poole and made their home in the Mapes area where they had two children Marie Clemmensen and Marvin (Bob) Poole. Iva was a true Pioneer of Vanderhoof (having lived here for 90 years) and was an easy person to love for those who have met her, she was well known in the community. Up until January 2010, she enjoyed living on her own in her little house in town, gardening, canning, going to bingo, driving her Subaru, and spending time with her family.
Iva was predeceased by her husband Harold in 1979, son-in-law Eric Clemmensen in 1994, daughter Marie Clemmensen in 1999 and all her siblings.
Iva is survived by her son Marvin (Bob) Poole. Grandchildren: Garry Clemmensen (Laura) and Darlene Penner (Russell). Great Grandchildren: Sarina Funk (Greg), Melissa Dorish (Andrew), Ryan Copp (Shelly) Spencer McNabb-Clemmesen, Patricia Rosenau (Ryan), and Christopher Penner. Great Great Grandchildren: Roanan, Anna, Jonah (Funk); Lynden, Harley (Dorish); Mileena, Kaydence (Copp), and several nieces and nephews.
Iva’s family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at St. John Hospital and Stuart Nechako Manor who took such good care of our sweet Iva during her stay there. We would also like to thank the Hospice Society for their compassion and helping to sit with Iva in her finally days.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Alice Burg, a dear friend of Iva’s for many years for all her support and comforting words during this difficult time.
It has been Iva’s request that there be no service. She has been cremated and buried alongside her late husband Harold in the Mapes Cemetery.
She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
