Marian Frazer

December 26, 2004

Marian said good-bye to her family and friends on Sunday, December 26, 2004. She died gently and without pain. Thank you to the entire staff of Royal Columbian 6 South for your professional, compassionate care.

Born in Saskatoon, Sask. on February 21, 1917, she was raised in B.C. by her Auntie Bess and Uncle George Whyte. After graduating from Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops as an R.N., Marian fell in love and married Victor Smith. With their three children, David, Bruce and Susan, they lived in Vancouver, Victoria, Sechelt, Campbell River, Nakusp, Vanderhoof and Prince George. After Vic’s death in 1966, Marian lived and nursed in Prince George and Vanderhoof. In 1993 she married her high school friend, Craig Frazer and moved to Osoyoos. Craig passed away in 1994 and Marian stayed on in the home she loved at White Sands.

Marian’s friends say she packed 48 hours into each day — and always found time to schedule an afternoon of bridge. The United Church, Eastern Star, Canadian Cancer Society and uncounted causes, patients and friends were graced by her energy and generous spirit. She truly believed and lived the credo, “I am my brother’s keeper”. Marian will be remembered with love by the legions whose lives she touched.

Memorial services will be held in Vanderhoof at the Friendship Center at 2:00 pm Thursday, Jan 6/05 and in Osoyoos Sat., Jan 22/05 2:00 pm United Church. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
