Fort St. James’ Atom hockey team won silver after losing to Smithers 3-6 in the finals game at the Vanderhoof-hosted Atom Hockey tournament on Jan. 22.

Vanderhoof Atom Bears transformed into Kodiaks and Grizzlies for an at-home tournament this weekend.

Stacked with all the girls of Vanderhoof’s Atom Minor Hockey division, Grizzlies won third place, losing 3-4 to Fort St. James on Jan. 22 for the second time in the event.

Kodiaks triumphed over Fraser Lake for sixth place with a 6-5 shootout.

Fort St. James placed second behind tournament champions Smithers, losing 3-6 in the finals game.

“The kids played well as a team and was very respectful,” said Fort St. James Atom coach Andrew Hoy. “Our goalies played very well throughout the weekend.”
