Vanderhoof RCMP seek information about fatal pedestrian involved collision

One person was deceased at the scene and the other pedestrian was taken to hospital with injuries that have been described as severe.

Vanderhoof RCMP are seeking information from the public about a pedestrian involved collision on Highway 16 at Pine Street that occurred on Sunday, June 15, 2025. 

RCMP said in a news release they received a 911 call of a crash at 3:23 p.m Sunday where two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle travelling on the highway. The vehicle travelled a short distance after the collision and struck a light standard.

"One person was deceased at the scene and the other pedestrian was taken to hospital with injuries that have been described as severe.," said Cpl. Madonna Saunderson,  District Advisory NCO (Media Relations), North District RCMP. 

Highway 16 was shut down for a period of time to allow police to conduct an on scene forensic examination. It was later reopened to all traffic.

"The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with investigators and BCHP has assumed conduct of the investigation," Saunderson noted. 

Anyone who was in the area at the time, who manyhave dashcam video, or witnessed the crash, is asked to contact the BCHP at 250-649-4004.
