Inter-school floor hockey battle

A student from David Hoy Elementary (blue) and another from Evelyn Dickson Elementary (red) scrambled for the puck at W. L. McLeod Elementary’s gymnasium.

They are among 24 teams from eight schools between Fort St. James and Vanderhoof that gathered at Gospel Chapel, St. Joseph’s gymnasium, Evelyn Dickson Elementary and W. L. McLeod Elementary for the annual Vanderhoof Intermediate Floor Hockey Play Day on Apr. 21.

Library hosts author visit

At 1:30 p.m. on May 3, Eric Walters, award-winning Canadian author of nearly 100 young adult fiction and picture books, will read a passage from his latest work and greet the community at the Vanderhoof Public Library.

New app for tracking own immunizations

ImmunizeCA, a mobile app funded by the public health agency of Canada to help Canadians store and manage their families’ vaccination records, enters phase two with new funding.

The app currently provides access to vaccination schedules based on information specific to people’s home province or territory, and to reliable, expert-approved information about vaccinations for children, adults and travellers. It also offers tools such as appointment reminders and local outbreak notifications.

Phase two will involve securing access to information, more functions such as browser access for other devices, integration with provincial records, customizable schedules for individuals with health conditions, and catch-up schedules for newcomers to Canada.
