Festival for salmon run invites all, country-wide warrant from Alberta

Festival for salmon run invites all

Due to low salmon runs so far, the Stellat’en First Nation’s salmon fest will be postponed to Aug. 30, 31, and Sept. 1.

Over three days, the community west of Fraser Lake is inviting all community members, native or non-native, to its community garden and smokehouse to celebrate the annual salmon run.

The annual event features workshops on traditional preservation methods of fresh salmon, as well as a feast of the local fish and fresh vegetables harvested from the community plots. Schedule and more information to come.
