CNC aborginal week: stories, cultural workshop

The eighth annual Aboriginal Cultural Week takes place this week from Apr. 11 to 15 at the College of New Caledonia’s Vanderhoof campus.

All of Vanderhoof community is invited to the eighth annual Aboriginal Cultural Week that is taking place this week from Apr. 11 to 15 at the College of New Caledonia’s Vanderhoof campus.

Funded by the Aboriginal Service Plan, the week of events aims to encourage aboriginal participation, provide a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all, and bring people together with food, said aboriginal liaison advisor Sarah John.

On Apr. 15, the aboriginal cultural competency workshop, normally offered through CNC’s continuing education program, will be available for all to attend for free.

 

Schedule of events:

Wednesday, 12 - 1 p.m. Fishing theme, stories. Lunch: soup, bannock

Thursday, 12 - 1 p.m. Elders’ tea and stories. Lunch: traditional meal

Friday, 12 - 3 p.m. Cultural

competency workshop, hosted by Sarah John (registration required) Lunch: Indian tacos
