Over 120 Nechako Valley Secondary graduates from Vanderhoof walked across the stage, one by one, as the class of 2016 during their graduation ceremony on June 11.

The Jackie Nicholson Award was presented to Andrew Rode, the Citizenship Award to Samantha Pratt, Outstanding Graduate to Sara McBride, and Outstanding Academic Award to Sahej Dhak.

Graduates Sydney Andres, Kirsten Forsberg, Paige Loewen, Danielle Marks, Ryshel McKee, Dakota Moldowan, Tyra Morin, and Skylar Smith-Clark performed “My Wish” — through voice, acoustic guitar, or drums — at the ceremony, accompanied by band teacher Russell Laren on electric guitar.

On the previous evening, the graduates’ Grand March also took place at the arena in a flurry of shimmering dresses, camera flashes, and lights. Police vehicles, transport trucks, antique cars, and heavy equipment were some of the chosen mode of transportation to the event by the graduates.
