For Pro-D Day on March 10, Vanderhoof Public Library is hosting Lego Play from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and a screening of the movie “Moana” from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Preschoolers must be accompanied by an adult and movie goers can bring their own snacks.

 

Self-esteem for girls, helping kids with trauma

Vanderhoof’s Local Action Team for youth mental health are presenting two free events this weekend.

On March 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., a self-esteem program, titled “Simply You”, for girls aged eight to 12 years old will be hosted by Joelene Siemens Abbot at Vanderhoof’s YMCA, located in the Integris Community Centre.

Youth will learn to develop positive self-esteem through nutrition, yoga, mindfulness, and knowledge of media and their own unique qualities.

On March 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., a session on helping children with anxiety, stress, and trauma will be hosted by Dr. Linda O’Neill at W. L. McLeod Elementary for family and community members.

The workshop will focus on practical strategies for trauma-related problems, as well as self-care ways when family are affected by children suffering from stress.

Annual Prime Rib Dinner

Vanderhoof’s Holy Trinity Anglican Church is holding its annual prime rib dinner on March 10 from 5 to 7 p.m, including Yorkshire pudding, roasted potatoes, and scuffle for dessert.

 

PG hotel tax up 1%

The City of Prince George in collaboration with Tourism Prince George’s application for the renewal and rate increase of the three per cent tax (increased from two per cent) on the purchase of accommodation within the City of Prince George under the Municipal and Regional District Tax Program has been approved.

The renewal and increase will take effect on July 1, 2017.
