(From left) Nechako Valley Sporting Association’s Paul Collard, Vanderhoof mayor Gerry Thiessen, Nechako-Kitamaat Development Fund director Wayne Salewski, elementary ski program coordinator Richard Burkholder, Councillor Kevin Moutray, and NVSA member Sonya Zurevinski gathered for the NVSA new office’s official opening on Feb. 7.

Two new structures are now added to the association’s grounds, which features cross-country skiing trails and a shooting range west of Vanderhoof.

A rat-proof shed provides tournament administrative spaces — tournament timing and judges on one side, front office and registration on the other. Behind the office building is another secured space for cross-country skis used in a new elementary student skiing program started this year, and a covered shelter is added behind NVSA’s log house for grooming equipment storage.

“We’re happy that people like NKDF and NDIT (Northern Development Initiative Trust) support the project,” Collard said. “If you put agencies together, you can get a lot of good things done.
