Vanderhoof-born resident celebrates almost 90

Jim Simonson turned 87 on July 20, celebrating the occasion over cake and song at the Vanderhoof Men’s Shed on Burrard Street.

Jim Simonson turned 87 on July 20, celebrating the occasion over cake and song at the Vanderhoof Men’s Shed on Burrard Street.

In 1929, Simonson was born in Vanderhoof museum’s jail house building, then used as a midwife office.

“To keep healthy, you drink a bottle of beer for lunch, an inch and a half of whiskey at night,” Simonson said.
