California Dreamin’ has new clothes, new labels, and an extended store that the owner Richard Wruth managed to renovate in three weeks this year.

“We expanded in August as we were getting a lot of traction from local communities and due to COVID people were shopping local.”“We have customers from Prince George, Burns Lake, Fort St. James that are coming to Vanderhoof to shop at the store. And with the pipeline workers here, we needed to diversify our product lines and store to accommodate their needs as well.”

With the expanded store, there is something available for all age groups at California Dreamin’.

Winter is approaching and customers will find a range of sweaters, boots, jackets, socks and scarves. And along with that, you will find t-shirts, shirts, dresses, skirts, hoodies, and so much more.

California Dreamin’ also has a tanning service that is currently open, and Wruth said they are strictly following COVID-19 guidelines to keep that service going.

Other than the store, Wruth also directs Vanderhoof Childrens’ Theatre and helps manage a family farm at Engen.

At the Children’s Theatre, Wruth gets participants from grade 2 through grade 12. He has directed 21 years, but unfortunately due to COVID-19, the play for the year has been postponed.

“We appreciate the community and surrounding communities for all the local support. Because really at the end of the day that money goes back to our kids group and sponsorships. We love to sponsor different community events and organizations and will continue to do so in the future.”

Note: The features for Small Business Week are sponsored by participating businesses and first ran in the Oct. 22 edition of the Vanderhoof Omineca Express.
