Integris Credit Union is opening a branch in Fraser Lake next year.

In an Oct. 23 news release, the company said they are excited to announce the expansion of operations in the Dakelh territory by opening a branch in Fraser Lake. This decision follows consulations with the village of Fraser Lake, Stellat’en and Nadleh Whut’en First Nations, residents from the area and regional stakeholders.

“Following an extensive business case and financial viability analysis, the Integris Board is satsified that we are in a position to succeed in providing financial solutions to the residents and businesses of Fraser Lake, Stellako and Nadleh,” says Cheryl Wallace, chair of the board of directors of Integris.

This Fraser Lake expansion means that the company will be better positioned to support the current and future members, Wallace said, adding that it will also allow them to keep their profits local through member dividends, local employment and community investment.

Mayor Sarrah Storrey said residents in the community were devastated when CIBC announced its closure in the village.

” Integris was our first choice and our first call for help - we are pleased to announce that help has arrived! Fraser Lake is such a great place to live and having Integris – a thriving regional financial cooperative that cares about the community and its people – is theabsolute best choice for our promising community and the surrounding area,” Storrey said.

Mark Parker, Area Director (D) of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako said Integris will play a vital role in strengthening the community while providing essential financial services to the residents.

“I look forward to a long and prosperous community relationship,”
