Vanderhoof residents can get ready to dive into the holiday season with several events set to take place from the very first day of December.
Dec. 1 will see the elf get back on the shelf. Businesses have the opportunity to hide the elf in their store and tease it on social media, and then whoever can find the elf, gets a chance to win a prize.
Most of the events, organized by the Vanderhoof Chamber of Commerce, will take place on Dec. 2 which is the Merry Madness Day, said Manager Shelley Funk.
Stores will be open late with specials all day long and the Vanderhoof Chamber of Commerce Parade starts at 7 p.m. Staging will be on Stewart St. from Butte to Recreation. Parade will go down Stewart to Lampitt, Lampitt to Victoria, Victoria to Burrard, Burrard back to Stewart.
“I have had a lot of interest in the Parade so I am expecting lots of lights rolling down our roads that night,” said Funk.
Funk said the parade is always a super fun event for everyone. “This is a great time where people always run into each other and have a nice visit.”
Apart from the parade, a scavenger hunt will also take place on Dec. 2. More details about the scavenger hunt will be available on the Chamber’s social media site on Nov. 30.
Children and adults can also head to the Coop Mall for a photo with Santa on Dec.2 from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m to 9 p.m.
Santa will also be available at the mall on Nov. 25, Dec. 9 and Dec. 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The McLeod School Christmas Craft Sale will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3: 30 p.m.
A Madness Bazaar will also be in full swing at the Friendship Centre from 9:30 a.m. to 4: 30 p.m.
Local businesses can gear up for some friendly competition for the Best Decorated Store contest which will run from Dec. 11 to 16.
