The 35th annual Hooterville Hoot was held over the weekend.

Around noon, approximately 120 cars had registered for the free event.

Ken Holden says he started the event in the 1980s to support his community.

“I didn’t own a car at the time. I didn’t own one for the first three years I did it. I wanted to have a hobby. And when I started the show we rotated between Fort St. James, Fraser Lake and Vanderhoof,” Holden said.

The community has been very supportive, he said, noting the sponsorship has been great. There is no charge to the participants or to the public during the event.

The prizes are donated by the community from around Vanderhoof and Prince George. Some participants came from as far as Smithers, B.C., Holden added.

The show is open to any kind of vehicle — motorcycles, tractors, anything that is automotive, he said, adding people bring their project (unfinished) cars as well.
