The 44th Wild Goose Chase Race, a cherished annual tradition in Vanderhoof, is scheduled to take place on May 11, commencing from W. L. McLeod Elementary at 10 a.m.

The event, deeply ingrained in the community, attracts hundreds of participants annually, providing a variety of races tailored to different age groups and fitness levels.

Originating in 1978 with just 22 participants, the Wild Goose Chase Race has experienced consistent growth over the years becoming a prominent fixture on Vanderhoof’s event calendar.

Traditionally held during the first weekend in May, this year’s race date was adjusted to May 11, to avoid overlapping with Red Dress Day events.

The Wild Goose Chase Race offers a selection of races to accommodate diverse preferences and fitness abilities. Participants can opt for either a 3.5km or 8km running race, or a 5km walking race.

Organiser Zoe Dhillon has confirmed that registration for Zone 4 is currently available online. Awards will be distributed across various age categories, with all children aged eight and under receiving a medal.
