At Oct. 28 council meeting, Scott Bilbrough and Harry Hooke presented a proposed subdivision layout, focusing on a shift to a rural acreage model. The plan is deemed feasible with the current water supply and access to Highway 16. While the removal of forest cover and brush has not impacted the nearby creek, further reviews of road layouts, ditching, and drainage will be conducted during the permitting process. Secondary connections to Nechako Avenue and Highway 16 are also planned but will be evaluated once traffic flow can be properly assessed.
Council carried several motions during the meeting. These included supporting a $20,000 grant application to the Northern Development Initiative Trust for the 2025 Business Facade Improvement Program, approving the route for the 2024 Parade of Lights organized by the Chamber of Commerce to be held on Dec.7, and adopting the 2025 Council Meeting Calendar. The Council also endorsed the NCLGA Mental Health and Addictions Accord.
