Vanderhoof Airport reported theft of fuel and damage to an aircraft and other assets.

As per a statement from the Vanderhoof Airport Development Society, fuel caps were left off the affected aircraft and that can lead to fuel contamination with unknown materials and water does cause contamination as well.

Any interference with an aircraft is classified a federal offence.

Sgt. Rodney Guthrie confirmed a report was filed by the airport authority and the file is under investigation.

Users have expressed their concerns about not having any security at the Vanderhoof Municipal Airport and Paul Collard, president of the Vanderhoof Airport Development Society said this incident underlines how vulnerable the assets at the airport are.

If you have any information about this incident, the airport users are requesting you to come forward and report it to the RCMP at 250-567-2222.
