If this past weekend was any indication, the Vanderhoof Peewee Bears are going to have a season of competitive hockey ahead.
The Williams Lake Peewee Timberwolves hosted an icebreaker tournament at Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex Saturday where all teams had tight match-ups.
Friday evening, the T-Wolves held a close win over the Quesnel Thunder.
On Saturday morning the Vanderhoof Bears, a Tier 3 team invited to participate, proved to give the Williams Lake T-Wolves a run for their money with a 6-6 tie. Later that evening the Bears lost 8 - 2 to Quesnel Thunder and the early morning Sunday game the Bears lost narrowly to P.G., finishing 11 - 8 to the Cougars.
Coach Jason Kadonaga says “It was a great icebreaker tournament to start the season. The team showed a lot of heart coming back from an 8 - 1 deficit in the game against P.G.”
“Lots of good things came out of the weekend, a few things to work on but a great place to build from” says Kadonaga.
