RCMP releases CCTV footage of rainbow crosswalk vandals, seek public assistance

Footage captured two unidentified individuals, possibly males, in dark clothing and light shoes near the crosswalk during early hours of Oct. 19

Vanderhoof RCMP has released CCTV footage related to the vandalism of the rainbow crosswalk on Oct. 19. 

CCTV footage captured two unidentified individuals, possibly males, in dark clothing and light shoes near the crosswalk between 12:03 and 12:07 am on the same night. The individuals were seen walking eastbound on Victoria Street East after the incident.

The police are seeking public assistance in investigating the vandalism incident which took place on Voting Day in Vanderhoof. On Oct. 19, it was discovered that the crosswalk, located at Victoria Street East and Butte Avenue, had been spray-painted in neon orange with the message "Speak Truth Save The Kids."

The police are asking public help in identifying those responsible. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Vanderhoof RCMP at 250-567-2222.
