Theft caught in progress in Vanderhoof home last week

Suspects now in custody awaiting court on charges of theft

A theft was caught in progress on Blackwater Road in Vanderhoof last week.

Sgt. Rodney Guthrie of the RCMP detachment in the District sent a release stating, home owners interrupted a theft in progress on their property early in the morning.

The release stated that suspects were trying to steal a trailer and other items from the owners shop.

“The suspects fled on foot when they were interrupted and the homeowner contacted the RCMP members of the Vanderhoof detachment and the RCMP police service dog team attended,” as per the release.

After several hours of tracking, both suspects were located and arrested.

“Both male suspects are well known to the police and are being held in custody awaiting court on charges of theft,” read the release.
