The RDBN has rescinded the evacuation order for Laidman Lake and replaced it with an evacuation alert.

The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako (RDBN) has rescinded the evacuation order for Laidman Lake wildfire and replaced it with an evacuation alert on July 25.

The evacuation alert extends to all lands, properties, and dwellings in the vicinity of Laidman & Williamson Lakes, specifically those located west of Kluskus FSR, north of Moose Lake Road, and south of Malaput FSR.

An evacuation order for Laidman Lake wildlife was issued on July 20 after the fire was discovered on July 19. The wildfire, situated between the two lakes is believed to have been started by dry lightning.

While an evacuation alert is in place, residents must be prepared for an evacuation order. They are advised to locate all family members or co-workers and plan to meet outside the evacuation area, gather essential items  and prepare to move any persons with mobility challenges and/or children.
