Canada’s 2024 Operation Christmas Child shoebox collection season is officially underway and is inviting Vanderhoof residents to help spread joy to children in need around the globe.

From November 18 to 24, community members can drop off their packed shoeboxes at the Vanderhoof Christian Fellowship, located at 263 Vanderview Dr. The drop-off hours are Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and Wednesday and Thursday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Individuals, families, and local groups are encouraged to fill shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and personal notes. This annual initiative, organized by Samaritan’s Purse, aims to deliver these gifts to children in over 100 countries, including those facing poverty, disease, and conflict.

Last year, Canadians contributed more than 425,000 shoeboxes, sharing love and hope with children in regions like West Africa, Central America, Ukraine, and the Philippines. Each shoebox requires a $12 donation for shipping and program costs, ensuring that the gifts reach those who need them most.
