The Vanderhoof International Airshow has announced a significant re-structuring of their upcoming Summer 2024 event. Originally scheduled for a different date, the event will now take place on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024. This decision comes in response to potential wildfire concerns that could affect the region during the summer months.

The Vanderhoof Airshow Society is transforming its traditional airshow into ‘The Masters of the Air Exhibition.’

This re imagining aims to mitigate any complications that wildfires may pose to the event’s execution and safety.

An exciting addition to the exhibition is the inclusion of the iconic B-17 Flying Fortress, known for its prominent role in the Apple TV+ series, ‘Masters of the Air.’ This historic aircraft will be showcased alongside several other rare fighter aircraft and local flyers.

Attendees will have a unique opportunity to tour the B-17 and even experience flying in it. Detailed cost breakdowns for these experiences will be available on the event’s website.

The event will feature B-17 Aircraft Tours at the Prince George International Airport (YXS) on Thursday, August 1st. Additionally, flights in the B-17 Flying Fortress, P-51D Mustang, Harvard Mk4, and P-40E Kittyhawk will be available in Vanderhoof on August 3rd. Booking information for tours and flights will be accessible on the event’s website.

In addition to the aviation attractions, the exhibition will offer child care services provided by YMCA, food services, aviation book vendors, model aircraft displays, and a 50/50 draw organized by CASARA.

Admission to the event is set at $10 per person, with a discounted rate of $5 for children aged 12 years or younger.

Further details regarding the event will be updated on the Vanderhoof International Airshow’s website as preparations progress.

The restructuring of the event has been made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Airshow Society members, who have volunteered countless hours to ensure the continuation of aviation history and education within the community and the broader region. The society expresses profound gratitude to its supporters and sponsors for their ongoing commitment.

Businesses interested in supporting or sponsoring the event are encouraged to contact Paul Collard at pcollard6@gmail.com or 250-567-8724 for sponsorship information.
