Shane Richard Wakelyn of Prince George has recently been convicted of one count of employing unlicensed guide under section 48(2) of the Wildlife Act.  Wakelyn was fined $10,000.00 for this offence.  The charge relates to an incident in the fall of 2009, when it is alleged that Wakelyn, operating Ambush Outfitters, employed an unlicensed U.S. Citizen to act as a BC Guide.

The U.S. citizen guided several other clients from the U.S.  As a result of the investigation, Prince George conservation officers arrested suspects, seized wildlife items and firearms.  The events occurred near Teardrop Forest Service Road, part way between Vanderhoof and Prince George.

The public is reminded to contact the BC Conservation Officer Service RAPP (Report all Poachers and Polluters) line at 1-877-952-7277.
