Update: Body found in front of Fort Forum Arena was of missing 65-year-old

No suspicious activity in death of Margaret Duncan, police say

RCMP confirmed that the body found in Fort St. James yesterday was of Margaret Duncan.

On Wednesday, at 1:42 pm, Duncan who was reported missing since Dec. 31, was found deceased in front of the local arena, stated a Jan. 9 release by the RCMP.

The RCMP and BC Coroners Service are investigating, but there does not appear to be anything suspicious in the death of Duncan, police said.

Mayor Bev Playfair of Fort St. James said, “my sincere condolences go out to Ms. Duncan’s family. I would like to thank everyone involved in helping locate Ms. Duncan. Once again Fort St. James has come together to help out during such a hard time.”

Jan. 8

Local police confirmed that a body was found on Jan.8, infront of the Fort Forum Arena in Fort St. James.

RCMP is identifying the person and more information will be available after that process, said Cpl. Andrew Luukko of the Fort St. James RCMP unit.
