Crash kills Fraser Lake man

A 32-year-old Fraser Lake man was killed in a two-vehicle collision west of that community Thursday

A 32-year-old Fraser Lake man was killed in a two-vehicle collision west of that community Thursday.

Police report that the westbound Honda Civic the man was driving crossed the center line and collided, head on, with an eastbound GMC pickup.

The driver, and lone occupant of the pickup, was not injured in the crash.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash that occurred on the Stellaquo Overpass.

The crash resulted in the closure of Highway 16 West to both directions of traffic.

The highway was closed for several hours, while police conduct the investigation, however a detour was established around the crash scene.

The RCMP and the BC Coroner’s Service is currently working to establish the causal factors in this collision and determine what happened leading up to the collision that contributed to the driver’s state of mind and ultimately the collision.

Police are asking for anyone who may have witnessed this crash, or have information that may aid in the investigation to contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
