Elderly woman struck and killed by train in Vanderhoof

At approximately 4:30 pm June 21, 2018, an elderly woman was struck and fatally inured by an eastbound train at a crossing in Vanderhoof.

Cpl. Madonna Saunderson, District Advisory NCO (Media Relations) for the North District of British Columbia can confirm that the incident was a fatality and that it involved a 77-year-old woman who was a resident of Vanderhoof.

The woman was struck by a train at the Burrard Street crossing in downtown Vanderhoof, according to Saunderson. The crossing is equipped with fully functional lights and gates that were operating at the time.

Saunderson states that the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under further investigation and no supplementary information will be released at this time.
