On May 27, 2016 at 9:23 p.m. the Fraser Lake RCMP were advised of a fire in the 700 Block Birkshire Street in Fort Fraser.
Officers attended and observed two men inside (aged 58 & 68) and entered the residence to rescue both individuals who officers learner were deceased at the time of entry. Before they were able to recover the two men, the officers were pushed back out of the residence by thick black smoke.
Preliminary investigation suggests the fire was accidental and non-criminal in nature.
The investigation is now being led by the BC Coroner’s Service assisted by local RCMP.
