A Vanderhoof house was engulfed by fire in the early morning hours last Sunday.

At 5:23 a.m. on Jan.29, Vanderhoof’s fire department was called to the corner of Victoria Street East and Riverview Drive, and the first fire truck arrived at 5:31 a.m.

The fire was already through the house’s roof just after 5:30 a.m., said Robin Work, who lives across the street from the incident and was woken up by sirens. The residence was put on sale at the time.

Fire involved the entire building and a total of 21 firefighters were on scene for eight hours. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no injuries were incurred. The fire’s cause is under investigation, Vanderhoof’s fire chief Ian Leslie said.
