The Fraser Lake and District Chamber of Commerce, Village of Fraser Lake and Love Fraser Lake announced the return of the community’s Business Expo for the first time since the pandemic hit, happening June 3-4 at the Fraser Lake Arena.

Chamber managing director Dave Christie said in light of local businesses and industry struggles to find employees, a job fair has been added to this year’s event and the space expanded to 44 tables.

Christie said the job fair aspect already has a lot of interest and will include big industry as well as local businesses.

“I only put the email out a couple hours ago and I have already 15 tables confirmed out of the 44. People are anxious to get back to some sort of normalcy,” Christie said. “We really look forward to this and it’s going to be great to see everyone in person.”

Like in previous years community groups, sports teams and not-for-profits will showcase programs and activities.

Christie said as well as being a space for residents to come together the chamber is hoping to draw in visitors interested in what Fraser Lake has to offer.

“This is an opportunity for people maybe thinking about moving to more of a smaller community or rural community to check out what’s available in the job market and hopefully something aligns,” Christie said. “It helps prove that we’re a community that is moving forward.”
