He smells like gas

A Fort St. James man is arrested for fuel theft in Vanderhoof.

Reported on July 16 at 3:45 a.m. as the incident was happening, the 38-year-old was seen siphoning fuel from a vehicle by the intersection of Recreation Avenue and Stewart Street.

RCMP on patrol nearby located a vehicle occupied by a woman and the man, who smelled strongly of gasoline.

His vehicle also contained three jerrycan gas containers, one of which was a quarter full of gas.

Arrested for the theft, the man was released with a promise to appear in court in September.

Lost and found

A travel trailer reported lost on July 15 was recovered two days later within town limits, with the help of reported information.

Investigation continues as the RCMP waits for the results of collected forensic evidence, and the trailer is returned to its owner.

Cast away

A 12-foot 1974 fibreglass boat was reported missing from Cluculz Lake on July 20.

Previously tied to a tree on the edge of the lake, the boat may have floated away due to recent storms in the last few days, the RCMP said.

Including an outboard 1974 Johnson outboard motor and other equipment, the lost boat is valued at $3,000.

Those with information are advised to contact the RCMP at the local detachment or through CrimeStoppers.
