Motorist killed in head-on collision east of Fraser Lake

Fraser Lake RCMP say a two-vehicle collision on Highway 16 has claimed a life.

On Tuesday, Nov. 16 at approximately 3:45 p.m., the Fraser Lake RCMP and emergency services responded to a head-on collision between a westbound transport truck and an eastbound passenger vehicle near Dry William Lake east of Fraser Lake.

The lone occupant of the eastbound vehicle, a woman in her fifties, died at the scene, BC Highway Patrol stated in a news release.

The driver of the transport sustained minor injuries and was transported to hopsital.

“BC Highway Patrol in Vanderhoof has assumed conduct of this investigation with assistance from the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service and the BC Coroners’ Service,” noted BC Highway Patrol Media Relations Cpl. Mike Halskov.

“The cause of the collision is not known at this time, however, impairment has been ruled out.”
