Vanderhoof RCMP want to encourage citizens to report a crime however inconsequential it may appear to them.
In an email statement to the Express, Staff Sgt. Laurie Clarkson, detachment commander in Vanderhoof said, “By reporting the crime it allows us to conduct an investigation, or at the very least bring it to our attention, in the event there are other similar crimes that may be linked.”
She said if residents are hesitant to call the detachment for a non-emergency crime, they can utilize the online crime reporting tool available to the community.
These non-emergency crimes can be reported online at http://vanderhoof.bc.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/.
Mounties said the portal is used for cases where no suspects or witnesses were/are present and when no police follow-up is needed. More information regarding what you can report using the tool is available in the link above.
In order to use the online format an active email account is required.
Citizens can always contact Crime Stoppers with any tips anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
