Power is out for over 700 BC Hydro customers in multiple parts of Vanderhoof on Nov. 22.

The outage is affecting residents living west of Prairiedale Road, north of Telegraph Road, west of Stella Road, east of Alder Avenue, west of Hobson Road, north of Nechako Avenue, south of Highway 16, south of George Road, east of Stoney Creek Road, north of Jardine Road, south-west of Francois Lake Road, east-west of Orange Valley Road, north of Orion Road, south of Encombe Road, 1000-1200 block Tritt Road, Tritt Road P7, Redman Pit Road P16/6, Stoney Creek P7/31 and 800 block of Stoney Creek Road.

Residents living south-west of Francois Lake Road were the first to lose power around 12:11 p.m.

Trees have fallen across wires causing power failure for some residents, and the rest of the outages are still being investigated by BC Hydro crews.

Meanwhile, a low pressure system moving through northern B.C. is causing strong, gusty winds today. As per Environment Canada’s weather alert, winds from the south or southwest at 40-50 km/h gusting to 70-80 km/h are expected. This may toss loose objects or cause small tree branches to break. The strong winds are expected to ease this evening.

To report an outage, call 1-800-224-9376 on your mobile or report it online. For an updated outage list visit BC Hydro’s website.
