Five bus runs have been temporarily cancelled in Vanderhoof by School District 91 (SD 91).

Runs removed for Wednesday, Sept. 29 and Friday, Oct. 1 include Route 105 Willowvale, Route 107 Loop / Bublitz, Route 108 Derksen / Markay, Route 110 Sinkut Lake / Langston and Route 111 Sackner / Sturgeon Point.

“Due to illness, we are short drivers, and unfortunately, we had to cancel these routes for about 225 families,” said assistant superintendent Mike Skinner.

“We never want to cancel services, but staffing shortages are a reality in some areas like many other businesses and organizations.”

Skinner did not elaborate on the illness.

He said SD 91 hopes their staff will be back soon and will continue to update parents and guardians on their Facebook and website.

The cancellations could carry into the week of Monday, Oct. 4.

The Express has reached out to SD 91 for further comment as well as Northern Health.
