Shooting near West Lake, police seek white van

Prince George RCMP are searching for two men and a white van connected to a shooting near West Lake Provincial Park on Friday.

Prince George RCMP are searching for two men and a white van connected to a shooting near West Lake Provincial Park on Friday.

At 1:42 p.m. RCMP received a phone call about a robbery in progress at a home near West Lake Provincial Park. While police were on route to the scene, they learned the victim of the robbery had been shot.

"The victim was shot, suffering non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital," Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass said. "We're looking for a white van which should be distinctive because it has Alberta plates. Whoever is in the vehicle should be considered armed and dangerous."

The van is described as a full-sized, white van with no windows on the side. The side doors were standard, swing-out doors not sliding doors and the rear bumper was slightly pulled out on the right side.

When last seen the van was quite dirty.

The two suspects are Caucasian men in the late 20s with lean builds. The driver had a shaved head with brown stubble and the passenger hand slightly-longer brown hair.

Douglass said anyone seeing the van or the suspects should call 911 immediately and not try to approach them.

Police set up roadblocks on Highway 16 and other roads in the area, but were not able to locate the suspects.

"They are still at large at this point," Douglass said.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477). Tips can also be made online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca.
