A search warrant will result in charges against a Vanderhoof resident in relation to the possession of out of season wild game meat.

A search warrant of two local residences will lead to a series of charges against two Vanderhoof residents as it appears that the individuals at those residences were in possession of wild life meat obtained out of season, did not have hunting licenses, and were also in possession of unlicensed firearms.

The search warrant was executed after the B.C. Conservation Office recieved information that individuals were in posession of the out of season meat. An investigation was launched following the tip and a search warrant was granted and executed.

“It’s not unusual for the RCMP to work in conjunction with another agency to bring about this sort of search warrant and enforcment,” said Cpl. Madinna Saunderson, District Advisory NCO for the RCMP.

Commanding Officer Sergeant Barbara Holley of the Vanderhoof detachment confirmed that the warrants were executed on March 6 in a coordinated and simultaneous operation in which the two homes were entered and searched.

The two men facing charges were very well known to police.

As a result of the search warrant and other information regarding this situation, 14 charges are pending and awaiting Crown approval, including Possession of Prohibited Weapons, Possession of Stolen Property and Breach of Recognizance.

The names and addresses of the suspects have not been released at this time.
