The Vanderhoof Fire Department has responded to 39 fire calls and 27 motor vehicle incidents since November 16, 2020.
In a May 25 update to council, Fire Chief Ian Leslie reported that department practices are being held with COVID-19 procedures in place. Attendance at the practice is currently averaging 22-24 members.
Vanderhoof Fire Rescue is also accepting applications for firefighters.
“This is a challenging volunteer position but one that is very rewarding,” stated the update.
Those interested in applying should go down to the Fire Hall located at 2230 Nechako Avenue to inquire, or call the department at 250-567-2616.
The update also had a fire prevention message to the public which states,“During a fire, leave a building as quickly as possible. If you can, close doors and windows as you leave. Once outside, stay outside.”
