The morning of July 8 had the Vanderhoof RCMP investigating a disturbance out on Blackwater Road.
A 41-year-old Vanderhoof man faces possible charges after firing his gun at his local residence during an evening barbeque with friends.
According to RCMP reports, it was reported that the male had allegedly shot his firearm into the air in what police believe was an effort to intimidate others attending the party.
Vanderhood RCMP arrived at the male’s residence to then arrest and detain the suspect for the use of a firearm.
A search warrant was warranted for RCMP to search the house and collect all firearms and seize them from the property.
The suspect has a history of firearms related offences as well as other criminal charges.
Alcohol has been determined a factor and an investigation is on going as the Vanderhoof RCMP is seeking the assistance of police agencies outside the jurisdiction of the Vanderhoof RCMP.
According to Vanderhoof RCMP reports, The suspect, a 41 year old Vanderhoof resident has been remanded into custody and is expected to have a bail hearing scheduled in the up coming days. In all, the Vanderhoof RCMP have recommended five charges in relation to this investigation, which is still ongoing at this time.
There were several animals on the property, which were taken by the Vanderhoof RCMP and now have been turned over to an appropriate care provider while the courts deal with this matter. The file has been forwarded to the local Crown Counsel Office who will review the charge recommendations.
