The District of Vanderhoof is very pleased to announce that we have signed a contract for the construction of the Vanderhoof Aquatic Centre!

Greyback Construction Ltd from Penticton, BC have been awarded the project. The anticipated start date will be April 17, 2017, with a completion date of Oct. 1, 2018.

There are many funding sources that have made the construction of the Aquatic Centre possible. Council wishes to thank everyone who contributed to this project. From Jensen Dick and his lemonade stand, the 480 people who paid $5 to be a “Founding Member”, to the Provincial Government contributing $6 million, every dollar has gotten us one step closer.

Council is grateful that the taxpayers of Vanderhoof have shown such strong support for this project.

From the referendum (77.4 per cent approval) to the over $600,000 raised by the community, this project would not be possible without your support.

Property taxes will cover the cost of borrowing $4 Million for construction and the cost of the annual operations of the Aquatic Centre. Since the referendum, the expected residential mill rate has decreased from $0.8681 to $0.7779. You will not see these costs on your tax notice for at least another year.

The District of Vanderhoof is very happy with the final design and look forward to presenting it to the community at the Community Information Forum to be held on Tuesday, March 14th, 2017 at the new Integris Community Centre at 6:30pm.
