Vanderhoof RCMP warn residents about phone scam

Police have been receiving numerous complaints from residents about a telephone scam.

Police have been receiving numerous complaints from residents about a telephone scam.

The scam involves people calling residents pretending to be Microsoft employees and asking for access to their computers.

If they are granted access a harmful program is downloaded and in some cases money and access to personal computers has been lost.

Residents have described the callers as having a strong East Indian accent.

Residents who receive any calls similar to this should not participate with the caller.
