Vanderhoof school to fight bullying with a musical video on Pink Shirt Day

The school focuses on the song ‘We are all in this together’ to show support for each other.

A local elementary school will honour Pink Shirt Day this year with a music video by reaching out to 44 different groups from Vanderhoof and Saik’uz.

W.L. McLeod Elementary School have chosen the song “We are all in this together” for the event Feb. 24.

“Vanderhoof and Saik’uz are amazing communities to step up and do this,” said Libby Hart, principal of the school.

The music video will also include other Vanderhoof schools, the RCMP, fire department, senior homes, businesses, mayor and health staff.

“Hopefully, this is going to be a real representation of Vanderhoof. We all already support the values of Pink Shirt Day but even more this year,” she added.

Pink Shirt Day depicts kindness, caring and including others. This year, the school also talks about being tolerant, understanding and celebrating differences.

The day is celebrated as a campaign to promote anti-bullying in schools.
