Vanderhoof’s historical society is now back to make and promote history with a new team.

Newly reinstated this winter, the Nechako Valley Historical Society hosted its first meeting of the year on Jan. 17 at Community Futures Stuart Nechako’s office and was attended by over 20 people from the community.

The newly elected board of directors is comprised of: president - Kimberley Unger, vice president - Sasha Striegler Iannone, treasurer - Anne Davidson, secretary - Tom Bulmer, and directors Sharon Bennett, Eveanne Riggs, Claire Nielsen, Tammy Lyell, Eric Stier, and Ginny Springer.

“From a 27-year old to a 62-year-old, we have a board with good depth, diversity, and enthusiasm in getting the museum up and running this summer,” said secretary Tom Bulmer. “We can now move forward with plans this year, one step at a time.”

Board executives will meet this week to discuss plans for 2017, and the society looks to open the historical grounds to the public starting on the May long weekend.
