In loving memory
Alan Ralph McLeod departed this life for the life eternal on November 17, 2021 at Cariboo Memorial Hospital at the age of 86.
He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, but from his formative years until he completed his postsecondary education, he lived in Vancouver, British Columbia. After obtaining a BA from the University of British Columbia, Alan attended the Anglican Theological College in Vancouver.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Sacred Theology in 1967 and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Caledonia in 1968. He served in the multipoint parishes of St. John's, Burns Lake, and Holy Trinity, Vanderhoof. In 1990, he was appointed to the parish of St. Peter's, Williams Lake in the Diocese of Cariboo. During his time as the incumbent of St. Peter's, the parish undertook a major renovation of the church building, for which he was a driving force. He retired in 2000, but remained active in the parish until his death.
Throughout Alan's life, his dedication to the Christian faith- as it found expression in established Anglican doctrine and practices- informed all that he did.
Alan was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Joan, on September 27, 2016. Left to mourn are his three children Janet (David) Boyd, Maureen (Clint) Evans, and Gail (John) Harrop, as well as his grandchildren Megan, Hamish, Iain and Alanna Boyd, Bronwyn, Gwyneth and Conal Evans, Christopher and Peter Harrop, and many other family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Williams Lake, in 2022.
"You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you."
